Position Summary:
The Laboratory assistant will mainly be responsible for cleaning of the manufacturing areas and items and/ utensils associated with manufacturing, Cold Rooms and Dispatch areas and Quality control laboratory according to standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
General cleaning of the manufacturing area, Dispatch and QC laboratory by following procedures
Tidying of the parking area – around the waste bin and recycling cages – at the back entrance of the manufacturing area
Ad-hoc cleaning duties as instructed by Production Manager/ Shift Leader/ Team Leaders or Quality Manager
Cleaning of Laboratory ware
Collecting and cleaning used flasks, stoppers and tubing after Hand pouring & Tube filling
Preparing tubing and stoppers for autoclaving
Preparing clean flasks for production by filling them with RO water
Maintenance of cleaning instruments and maintaining stock of cleaning materials and instruments needed for housekeeping
Assisting laundry contractor with weekly collection and delivery of laundered laboratory coats, including control of incoming and outgoing garments
Filing of laundered garments
Completing of Quality Records
Comply with Safety Procedures
Comply with Hand wash procedures and Dress code stipulations to ensure safety of self and of products
Daily cleaning and disinfection of workstation, associated equipment , packing area and floor area

Other Job Requirements:
Complete all training and competence assessments necessary for the skills required

Utilize all available resources to achieve your goals.
Take accountability for the results, and responsibility for the decisions made in your area. Hence, you must ensure that you are clear on processes and that approved procedures and instructions are followed and maintained at all times.

Adhere to OHS policies and procedures and ensure a safe and healthy workplace environment
Executing all other reasonable requests and instructions from management

Minimum Attributes/ Qualifications:
National Senior Certificate (or equivalent)
Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)
1 year experience as a general cleaner
Highly organized and able to store items efficiently
Able to work independently
Reliable and dependable
Excellent verbal communication
Comfortable working on their feet and must physically able to stand, sit, move, squat, lift, carry and climb a ladder during the course of the shift
